Lady Cougars Tough Defense Denies Milan First Win. 

The Lady Cougars opened up the 21-22 campaign at home against sectional foe Milan on Tuesday night.

Freshman, Kiley Best opened the first quarter on a hot streak dropping in 7 points. Best would end with a team leading 16 points for the contest. 

But it was on the defensive end that got the Lady Cougars (1-0) up early, holding the Lady Indians to 9 total first half points. It would be 21-9 at the break.

The third quarter saw Milan cut the lead by two at 31-21 behind two 3 pointers from M. Rivera.

Late in the game, the charity stripe finished off the Lady Indians with South Decatur knocking in 5 free throws. The Lady Cougars were 20/30 from the line for the game.

Holt (Milan) was held in check most of the game and only chipped in her 15 at the end of the 4th.

The Lady Cougars defeated Milan 44-33 and travel to MHC conference rival Southwestern (Shelby) on Saturday night. This game will be broadcasted on WTRE. 

In the JV game, South dismantled Milan JV 41-16. Makayla Puckett led the JV Lady Cougars with 12.
