Carl Nieman, 85

Carl W. Nieman, 85, of Greensburg, IN, passed away on July 22, 2022 at Community
Hospital North, Indianapolis. Born October 21, 1936 to the late John and Agnes Nieman,
in Greensburg, Carl was the fourth child in the family of six children. He graduated from
Greensburg Community High School in 1954 and met Glenda (Sturwold) Nieman in
1970 at Parkside Lanes Bowling Alley in Greensburg. They were married on August 12,

  1. Together, they had three children—Susie (Trev) Wade, Mark (Ginalee) Nieman,
    and Nancy (Josh) Dye. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, John and Agnes
    Nieman, brother, Arthur, and sister-in-law, Pauline Nieman, brother, Maurice Nieman,
    sister, Rosemarie Nieman and brother-in-law, Lawrence Schneider. Carl is survived by
    his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Glenda, his three children, Susie (Trev), Mark
    (Ginalee), and Nancy (Josh), five grandchildren, Marin, Hudson, Chase, Blake, and
    Jackson, sister, Betty Schneider and brother, John (Peg) Nieman and sister-in-law, Esther
    Nieman. Carl was a farmer all his life until he retired in 2012. He was an avid baseball
    fan and loved watching the Cincinnati Reds. He also liked watching basketball and
    football. Carl had a strong faith and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for his
    entire life. He loved staying busy, and could usually be found working on projects in his
    tool shed or mowing the yard. He took pride in keeping the farm and their yard in pristine
    condition and also loved gardening and growing and eating his own tomatoes. He loved
    spending time with his grandchildren and watching them participate in sports and other
    activities.
    A public funeral Mass will be held on July 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic
    Church in Greensburg. Rev. John Meyer will be officiating. A graveside service will
    follow at the church cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Contributions may be
    made to the St. Mary’s Church Fund.
