Carol L. Menefee, 69, of Westport, passed away at 10:46 a.m. on Monday, October
21, 2024 at her home. She was born on April 2, 1955 in Shelbyville the daughter
of James C. & Ruby Ree (Turner) Stephens. She was a 1973 graduate of South
Decatur High School and a member of the Westport Christian Church. She enjoyed
spending time with her family and shopping. Carol married Alan R. Menefee on
November 21, 1971 in Burney, Indiana. He preceded her in death on February 25, 2023.
She is survived by two daughters, April (Vance) Gregory of Murfreesboro,
Tennessee and Kelly (Tony) Burton of Westport; a sister, Delores (Gary) McCreary
of Greensburg; sister-in-law, Dorothy Stephens of Westport; brother-in-law,
Robert “Bob” Witkemper of Millhousen; three grandchildren, Brittany (Jared)
Shohfi of Ventura, California, Whitnye Burton and Luke Burton both of Westport;
and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents;
her husband; 2 brothers, Earl Stephens and Larry G. Stephens; and a sister,
Linda Witkemper. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday,
October 26, 2024 at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor George
Willette officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26,
from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
