Charles “Chuck” D. Storie, 69

Charles “Chuck” D. Storie passed away at 7:22 AM on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg, Indiana. Chuck was born on April 16th, 1951 in Kokomo, IN to Lewis & Katherine (Bennett) Storie. Beginning in 1969, Chuck first attended the University of Vincennes and then Indiana State University each for 1 year until coming to the realization his true calling was in the business of “people.” As most who knew him could attest, it did not take long to recognize Chuck’s love and desire to be in service to others.

Chuck found his home away from home in 1977 at the address of 109 East Main Street in Greensburg, IN which to this day would come to be known as Storie’s Restaurant. The “restaurant” (as it was commonly referred to in his home) was the true definition of a family business. In 1982, the business provided yet another unforeseen value as Chuck found Jane (Knecht), the love of his life and wife of 38 years. Beginning as a promising dream of his parents, Chuck, alongside his wife Jane, brother Don and sister-in-law Notrianna nurtured their restaurant into a staple of the Greensburg community.

Chuck was the epitome of the expression “never knew a stranger”. Whether being a one-time patron of Storie’s Restaurant or a lifelong friend, a person could expect from Chuck a coffee (or beer) in his hand and a smile on his face to greet them. Although his many years of service to others in the restaurant industry gave him great pride, Chuck’s greatest joy and sense of accomplishment in life came from his family. Being a lover of the simple things, Chuck was at his happiest surrounded by his family and his wife’s delicious cooking. Chuck also served for 35 years on the City of Greensburg Waterboard.

Chuck is survived by his wife Jane; daughter Emily (TJ Brock) Storie, Chicago; daughter Melissa (Nick) Wallpe, Greensburg; son Craig Storie, Indianapolis; son Spencer (Lauren) Storie, Brownsburg; grand-children Andrew, Abby and Ellie Wallpe and Bennett and Rylee Storie; brother Don (Notrianna); and several nieces and nephews. Chuck was preceded in death by his father and mother Lewis and Katherine (Bennett) Storie and sister Beth (Storie) Sanders.

Visitation for friends and family will be held from 2 to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24th at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home while observing CDC and state guidelines for social distancing and facial coverings.  Online condolences can be made to the family at www.popfuneralhome.com
