Cheryl A. Koors, 70

Cheryl A. Koors passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospital surrounded by love.  Cheryl was born January 2, 1952 in Greensburg, IN to George and Evelyn (Snider) Riley, who preceded her in death.

Cheryl graduated in the top 10% of the class of 1970 at Greensburg Community High School. She then entered the workforce at Public Service (Duke Energy) where she worked until her retirement in 2015.  It was more than just a job as she made sure to know her customers and made paying your electric bill a personal experience.

Cheryl married the love of her life, Richard E. Koors, on August 17, 1974 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and he survives.  There wasn’t much they didn’t do together over the next 48 years.  They enjoyed traveling to bowling tournaments, playing cards, and volunteering their time at many Knights of Columbus events; especially the many dances hosted by the Knights of Columbus.  Later they could always be found at any of the grandchildren’s as well as nieces’ and nephews’ sporting or school events.  Cheryl always had her camcorder or camera in hand to capture each memory.

Cheryl was an amazing mother to her sons, Bryan and Jason.  She was always there for every event, available for advice, and even set them straight when needed.  She was not only a mother to her children, but Cheryl also thought of everyone as one of her own and treated them as such.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and her puppy, Ozzie.  She is survived by her husband; sons, Bryan Koors and Jason (Mary) Koors, all of Greensburg; her brothers, Michael (Mona) Riley of Greensburg, Steven Riley of Indianapolis;  grandsons, Hunter Koors, Bryce Koors, Kody Newhart, and Grayson Newhart, all of Greensburg.  She is also survived by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and her support puppy, Dempsey.

Family and friends will gather at 3:30 pm on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg to pray the rosary. Visitation will follow from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 am on Friday at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Greensburg with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
