Donald Lee Smith, 71, of Greensburg, died Friday, December 9, 2022 as the result
of an auto accident on State Road 3 at Westport. He was born June 8, 1951 in
Columbus, the son of Lewis M. & Emma (Runion) Smith. He was a lifelong resident
of Decatur County. Graduated from South Decatur High School in 1969 and was a
Veteran having served in the US Marines during the Vietnam Era. He liked working
on his computer and listening to music. He married Phyllis Goodpaster on May 17,
2003 in North Vernon and she survives. Also surviving are his Step daughters
Christy Foster of Seymour, Tonya Renee Bowers, Amy Lynn Jones and Stephanie
Meisenberger all of North Vernon, his brothers; Milo and Ronald Smith of
Columbus, 20 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by his parents. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday,
December 17, 2022 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Boyd
officiating. Burial will be at the Bear Creek cemetery South of Westport.
