Edward Everett Herman Sr., 89

Edward Everett Herman Sr., age 89, passed away peacefully at home on April 13, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on October 28, 1936.  Edward was united in marriage to Barbara Ann (White) Herman on December 28, 1956. Their marriage was loving and devoted and truly modeled marriage in the best way possible.

Edward was a man of great faith and walked out that faith as a generous, cheerful and often anonymous giver living out Matthew 6:3:   “But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: 4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.”  He and Barbara traveled the world on Mission Trips and loved to tell the stories of the adventures they had all over the world.  His values of love, kindness, generosity and family were evident in everything he did to all who knew him.

Ed and Barbara, cherished every day of their life together, especially in retirement, where they split their time between Indiana and Florida.  In Greensburg, Ed and Barbara built a home with a special purpose – to welcome family and friends often and by the dozens.  That home became a gathering place filled with laughter, great food, warmth and lasting memories.

Ed built a company from scratch – Herman & Co., Inc. – along with his brother, David -which supported many family members for 25 + years.  His business cards read, “Every one of us shall give account of himself to God” – Romans 14:12.  Even in business, Ed professed and lived his faith.

Edward is survived by his children, Edward Herman, Jr (Nancy) and John Herman (Stephanie), his brothers David Herman (Jackie) and Steven Herman (Marcie), and his sister Julia Massingale (Harry). He leaves behind a multitude of grand and great grandchildren.

He will be remembered for his faith, his love and provision for his family and the welcoming home he built for so many.  His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the lives he touched.

A private burial will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.gilliland-howe.com.
