Harold Kenneth Sample, 87

Harold Kenneth Sample, 87, of Greensburg, passed away at 8:18 a.m. on Tuesday,
March 18, 2025, at his residence. He was born on May 16, 1937, in Hope, Indiana
the son of Charles Otto and Helen Ruth (DeSpain) Sample. He was raised in
Bartholomew and Decatur County and moved to the Westport area in 1976. He was
member of the Westport American Legion Post #339. He enjoyed golf and loved
working in his shed. He was a proud veteran having served in the United States
Army in Vietnam and retired after 23 years of service. He served as the Decatur
County Service Officer for many years. Harold married Erika A.W. Nusser on April
8, 1959, in Mannheim, Germany and she survives. Other survivors include his
daughter, Diana (Daniel) Coblentz of Greensburg; his sons, Eric (Pam) Sample and
Harold Sample both of Westport; grandchildren, Matthew Sample, Amanda Sample and
Kyle Sample; great grandchildren, Cayden Sample, Bentley Lavender, Braden
Lavender and Ava Sample. He was preceded in death by his parents and his
brothers, Charles Robert Sample and Raymond Eugene Sample. A Memorial Service
will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Bass & Gasper
Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. Daniel Coblentz and Father John Meyer
officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery with military graveside
rites. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22 from 10:00 a.m.
until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions
may be made to Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana through the funeral home.
