Hershel Young Jr., 63, of Peoria, Arizona, passed away on January 7, 2026. He was born
on June 11, 1962, in Columbus, Indiana, grew up in Jennings County, and raised his
children in Westport, Indiana place where many of his most cherished family memories
were made. He was a loving and devoted husband, a dedicated father, a special
grandfather, and a proud great-grandfather. A man of Christian faith, Hershel was known
for his quick wit, always cracking jokes, and never having a bad thing to say about
anyone. He proudly served in the United States Army and later worked as a licensed
plumber, a trade he took great pride in. He is survived by his wife, Dolly Young (formerly
Davis); his children, Bradley Young, Shane Young (Ayden), and Whitney Maupin (Jeffrey);
his daughter-in-law, Angi Baldwin Young; and his adopted children, Dalton, Davin, Emory,
Hunter, and Hayden Young. He was a proud grandfather to Desteni Eischen (James),
Daeton Young, Easton Blessing, and Cora Maupin, and a great-grandfather to Koe. He is
also survived by his siblings, Annette Ison and Robin Young (Fenisha); his stepfather,
Michael Bussberg Sr.; his stepbrother, Michael Bussberg Jr.; his stepsister, Julie Ramsey
(Quinn); his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jimmy Penn, Carolyn Watkins (Mike), Wanda
Dean (Kenny), Delmar Davis Jr. (Connie), Tony Davis, and Todd Davis; and many nieces
and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Hershel Young Sr.; his mother,
Jeanette Head Young Bussberg; his parents-in-law, Betty Davis and Delmar Davis Sr.; his
brother-in-law, Armond Ison; his sisters-in-law, Brenda Penn, Angie Davis, and Kimberly
Davis; his nephew, Nathan Lucas; his niece, Christi Hobbs; his nephew-in-law, Brian
Hersley; his nephew-in-law, Travis Gatewood; his grandparents; and his best friend, Gary
Combs. Hershel will be cremated. A private memorial service for immediate family will be
held at a later date. The family finds comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain and that he
passed away on the same day as his father, 38 years later.
