James Davis White, 79, of North Vernon, passed away at 5:59 p.m. on Wednesday,
December 7, 2022 at Ascension St. Vincent Emergency Room in North Vernon.
He was born on December 14, 1942 in Orange County, Kentucky the son of John and
Opal White. He moved to Indiana in the 1960’s and retired from the State Highway
Department in Seymour after 28 years of service. He was a former member of the
Moose Lodge in North Vernon. James enjoyed fishing, NASCAR racing, playing with
his grandkids, watching Western movies, playing pool and playing guitar and
singing. He married Treva Knight on June 23, 1979 in Rushville, Indiana and she
survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Heather (Kevin) Froedge of
Seymour; sons, David White and Travis White both of North Vernon; step-son,
Jerry White; sisters, Dorothy (Tom) Murray of Clarksburg and Virginia (Tom)
Wilham of Osgood; brothers, Jack (Laura) White of Tennessee and Lynn White of
Clarksburg; 17 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by
his parents; step-son, Jeff White; grandson, Dominic White; brothers, John and
Rick White and a sister, Carol Owens. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00
p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport.
Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held
on December 14 from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Online
