Joseph W. “Wayne” McNealy, 85, of Greensburg, passed away at 6:21 p.m. on
Monday, November 20, 2023 at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born on
September 27, 1938 in Decatur County, the son of Joseph Samuel and Mary Lucille
(Maple) McNealy. He was a 1956 graduate of Jackson High School. He worked in a
variety of positions throughout his life, including a mechanic at a garage in
Letts and Rodefelds in Greensburg in his younger years. For the majority of his
life, he was employed as a machinist at Reliance Electric (formerly Reeves
Pulley) in Columbus, retiring from there after 32 years of service in November
of 2000. After retirement, he took part-time positions at Letts Hardware and
Acra Automotive Group. Additionally, Wayne farmed throughout his life, first
helping with parents on the family farm in Decatur County, and then taking over
farm operations after his parents retired from farming. He was a member of the
Waynesburg Christian Church all his life and was a member of the Masonic Lodge
for more than 60 years. Wayne enjoyed street racing in the 1950’s and 1960’s,
tractor pulling, truck drag racing, fishing, working on anything mechanical,
spending time with family and friends, playing Euchre and Sequence, travelling
to Nashville, TN and Las Vegas. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963,
stationed in Seattle, Washington, where he worked as a mechanic and truck
driver. Wayne married Sandra L. Graue on June 6, 1965 at Star Baptist Church and
have been married 58 ½ years and she survives. Other survivors include his
sons, Jeff (Jennifer) McNealy, Kevin (Jennifer) McNealy and Greg (Lisa) McNealy
and his grandsons, Dalton and Clayton McNealy. He was preceded in death by his
parents, his in-laws, Effie Luella and Clifford Martin Graue; sister and
brother-in-law, Patricia and Gene Heitz; sister–in-law, Sharon Graue; infant
sister-in-law, Sharon Lynn Graue. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on
Monday, November 27, 2023 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Burial
will follow at Star Baptist Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on
Sunday, November 26, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Waynesburg Christian Church through the
