Joyce A. Wolterman, 86, of Westport, passed away at 12:30 a.m. on Thursday,
September 1, 2022 at her son’s home in Westport. She was born on October 7, 1935
in Greenville, Kentucky the daughter of Finis Y. and Ann Elizabeth (McPherson)
Boggess. She was raised in Princeton, Kentucky and moved to Columbus, Indiana in
- She graduated from Caldwell County High School in 1954 as valedictorian
and Midway Junior College in 1956. She worked for Arvin Industries for 45 years.
She retired from Columbus Regional Hospital in 2001 after 8 years of service.
She was a member of the Westport Baptist Church and had served as a Deaconess.
She was member of the Westport Baptist Friendship Mission Circle. She was a
former member of the Dabney Baptist Church where she taught the nursery class
and also a former member of the Zenas Baptist Church. She married Wilmer G.
“Bill” Wolterman at the Dabney Baptist Church on August 30, 1958. He preceded
her in death on May 8, 1988. She is survived by a daughter, Jodi M. (John L.)
Roberts of Las Vegas, Nevada; 2 sons, David W. (Candi) Wolterman of Columbus,
Darryl G. Wolterman of Westport; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilmer “Bill” Wolterman; step-
father, James Peters; brother, Hershel Boggess; half-sisters, Mabel Dillingham,
Anna Mae (Boggess) Stewart and Hallie Marie Boggess; half-uncle, John Rhea
Boggess. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September
10, 2022 at the Union Presbyterian Cemetery with Pastor Mike Bartlett
officiating. Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport has been entrusted with the
arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Southeastern Baptist
Youth Camp, Margaret Mary Home Health & Hospice or the Westport Volunteer Fire
