
Linda Carole Fisher, 81, of Columbus, passed away at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22,
2025, at her residence. She was born June 24, 1943, in Russell Springs, Kentucky, the
daughter of Henry Milton and Stella P. (Curry) Bryant. She was born and raised in Kentucky
and has been a past resident of Burney, Grammer, where she owned the Grammer Grocery Store for 5years and was postmaster, Alert and Elizabethtown. She has been a Columbus resident since 2016. She graduated from Burney High School in 1960; received her bachelor’s degree from Indiana
University and her master’s degree from Liberty University. She was the principal at
Crossroads Christian School and a counselor at Bartholomew County Youth Services and
worked at Columbus Senior Center, IUPUC and was a grief counselor. Her memberships
include Bartholomew County 4-H Leader for 10 years, member of the American Counseling
Association; North American Women in Construction, founding member of Crossroads
Community Church and member of the Community Church of Columbus. She enjoyed sewing,
reading, gardening, her kittens and her grandchildren. Linda married William Emmett
Fisher on June 3, 1961, at the Burney Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on August
24, 2015. She is survived by her daughters, Mary (Todd) Noblitt and Julia “Mendy” Fisher
both of Columbus, her son, William “Mark” (Marissa) Fisher of Columbus; her sister,
Elissa Louise (Keith) Keppel of Shelbyville; her brother M. Brad (Jenny) Bryant of
Edinburgh; her five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by her parents; her husband and her sisters, Sandra Lee Westerfeld and Shirley Howlett.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the
Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Francis and Pastor Tracy McIntyre
officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. Visitation will be held on
Tuesday, January 28, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the
service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South
