Lois E. Holzhause, 93, of Westport, passed away at 9:20 p.m. on June 5, 2021 at Aspen Place in Greensburg. She was born on August 24, 1927 in Decatur County, the daughter of William Stanley and Clara Pearl (Davis) Maddux. Lois was a lifelong resident of Decatur County and graduated from Sand Creek High School in 1945. She had worked for Dr. King as an Administrative Assistant for more than 15 years. She was a member of the Westport Wesleyan Church where she was a former board member, Sunday School Teacher and had helped with the cleaning of the church. Lois loved working in her flower beds. She had the most beautiful day lilies and Iris’s around. She also enjoyed reading and putting together puzzles. She married Frederick H. Holzhause in Orleans, Indiana on April 6, 1947. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1986. Survivors include her daughters, Pam (Bill) Houpey of Westport and Paula (Charles) Maupin of Fairland; her sisters, Barbara Faidley of Indianapolis, Harriett Cruser of Greendale and Bonnie Sims of Greensburg; her brother, David Maddux of Las Vegas, Nevada; her 7 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frederick H. Holzhause; son, Frederick Timothy Holzhause; sisters, Margaret McCullough, Rosemary Maddux and Rachel Brophy; brothers, Joseph Maddux and Robert Maddux. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Wesleyan Church in Westport with Rev. Jeff Moore, officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery. Friends may call at the Westport Wesleyan Church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. at the church. The Bass & Gasper Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements. We ask visitors to follow social distancing guidelines once inside the church masks are recommended.
