Lucille Francis (Hughes) Boyd, 98

Lucille Francis (Hughes) Boyd was born on November 25, 1926, in Middle Tennessee, passed away on Sept. 17th   at the age of 98, at her home.  She had been a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. Lucille lived a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness.  She was known for her warm smile, gentle demeanor, kindness, and unwavering generosity.  

 She started working at an early age as a Cargo loader in a Shipyard in CA., a Civil Servant for the Air Force, traveling around the Continental US for 3 years, a Waitress in an Upscale Restaurant in Hollywood, CA., trained to be a Telephone Operator in NY, a Seamstress at the Dress Factory in Greensburg, IN., a Nurse Assistant at a Nursing Home in Columbus, and the Columbus Hospital in the Nursery.  However, her most rewarding career was being a Foster Mother to 102 children in Decatur County, IN.  Lucille will be dearly missed by her children, extended family, and friends.

 She is survived by her children, George Hedrick (Susie), Nashville, IN; Pamela Osborne (Rick), Hartford City, IN.; Ella Boyd-Strimple (Wix), Greenwood, IN.; James (Jamie) Boyd, Edinburg, IN.; Nathaniel Boyd (Dana), Greensburg, IN.; Foster daughter, Patty Clark, Greensburg, IN.; 16 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.  Sisters and brothers: Jean Martin, Hartsville, TN.; Ruby Bogle, and Nell Broersma of Smyrna, TN.; Bobby Hughes (Becky), Tullahoma, TN.; and Doug Hughes (Karen), Smyrna, TN.

 Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Boyd; Children: Gerald Hedrick, Marsha (Hedrick) Gorbett, and Jaren Boyd; Parents: Burley and Alma Hughes and two siblings; Lorene Turner and Christine Coleman.

 Services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 24th, at Waynesburg Christian Church, 10230 W. Co. Rd. 850 S., Westport, IN. 47283. Viewing will be from Noon to 2 PM with services starting at 2 pm.  (Family viewing will start at 11 AM) with graveside services to follow at the Westport Cemetery.
