Max Eugene Ogle, 91, of Westport, passed away at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg. He was born on September 29, 1932 in
Decatur County, the son of William Robert & Gladys Elizabeth (Scott) Ogle. He had lived in Jennings, Decatur and Bartholomew Counties. Max was a 1950 graduate of Columbus High School. He was employed by Kizer Ag Chemical for 9 years, was a real estate broker for J.C. Reality and a farmer.Max was a member of the
Westport Baptist Church and had been a longtime member of Sardinia Baptist where he taught Sunday school for 30 years. He was also a member of Gideon International andGreensburg American Legion Post #129. He had served as Director of Farm Bureau in Jennings County and was a former member ofKiwanis Club in Westport. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He married Marcia Jane McConn in Belleville, Illinoison June 29, 1958. She preceded him in death on April 28, 2020. He is survived by his son, David Ogle of Westport; his daughter, Carla (Alan) Hammer of Loudon, Tennessee; a sister, Sharon Hill of Westport; 3 brothers,Robert Ogle and William Duane Ogle bothGreensburg, Lowell Sheldon Ogle of New Castle and 2 grandchildren, Amy Hammer & Aaron Hammer. He was preceded in death byhis parents and his wife, Marcia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor SteveGross officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery with graveside military honors. A time of visitation will be on Saturday, June 8 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
