Melvin James Moore passed away on Wednesday, December 15 at the age of 77. After a brief battle of cancer, he died peacefully at home with his beloved wife Betty by his side.
Melvin was born in Downeyville, Indiana on January 19, 1944, to father Herbert Moore and mother Edith Moore Coy. The middle child of 5 children. He graduated as a St. Paul Blaster and shortly after enlisted as an Army Reserve.
He fell in love and married Betty Frommel. Together they raised 4 children. He spent most of his adult life as a truck driver or a factory worker providing for his family.
In later life, Melvin was best known for his quick wit and love of his grand and great grandchildren. He would be the first to say his best accomplishment is the love and life his grandchildren brought to the world.
Melvin was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Moore; his mother, Edith Moore Coy; brothers, Herbert Jr. and Ronald Moore; sister, Mary Moore; great granddaughter, Breana McIntosh; and great-great grandson, Bentley McIntosh.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Moore; brother, Mark Moore; children, Tommy (Rhonda) Moore, Beverly (Tim) Woodruff, Donald (Mary) Moore, Mary Jane (Bryan) Rudicel; grandchildren, Rebekah Riili, Dezmon Moore, Alexander Moore, Barbara (Mike) McIntosh, Brittany Jessee, Brandy Howard, Timothy Woodruff Jr., Jamie Friend, James Rudicel, Donald (Leah) Moore Jr., Derek (Christiana) Moore; great grandchildren, Robert, Skyi, Kaden, Autumn, Lexi, Joshua, Sashia, Jasmine, Issac, McKennalynn, Memphis, Brecca, Shyann, Julian, Emmett, Ayden, Raelynn, Ryan, Lane, Sydney, Wyatt, and Skyla.
A service will take place at a later time with inurnment to follow in Star Baptist Cemetery.
