Nevin F.”Pete” Decker, Jr., 76

Nevin F. “Pete” Decker, Jr., 76, of Hope, passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at his residence. He was born on April 6, 1945 in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Nevin Franklin Decker, Sr. and June (Bennington) Decker. He graduated from Franklin College and worked in fire protection, property insurance and field engineering. He was a navigator in the U.S.
Air Force. Pete was an avid train collector and served as secretary for the Columbus Area Railroad Club. He also enjoyed family trips to Maine, and outdoor hobbies included sailing, kayaking and mountain biking. A lifelong music enthusiast, dog owner, and transportation design fan, he appreciated quality processes and details. He is survived by Karen L. (Zeigler) Decker,
wife of 53 years. Other survivors include son, Drew (Katie Lyons) Decker of Brooklyn, New York; grandson, Tyler (Tanna) Decker of Westport; great granddaughter, Tillie Decker of Westport, and cousin, Dixon Dudderar and family of Chatham, New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his son, Grant Decker. Following his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no service. Bass & Gasper Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral home.
