Pastor Paul A. Kirby, 81

Pastor Paul A. Kirby, 81, of Huron, passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at his residence. He was born on October 4, 1940 in Madison County, Indiana, the son of Lawrence Ulyllis “Jack” and Linnie Belle (Girt) Kirby. He was raised in Jennings County and has lived in Huron for the past 2 years. He graduated from North Vernon High School in 1958. Pastor Kirby retired in 2020 after 64 years of service pastoring several First Church of God congregations. He enjoyed fishing, reading, crossword puzzles and watching old westerns. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army in Korea. Pastor Paul married Sharon Kay Pyles on March 19, 1966 in Westport and she survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Sherry Bostic of Bloomington; his sons, David Kirby and John Kirby both of Huron; and they also raised their granddaughter, Ashleigh Rose Folker of Bowling Green, Kentucky; his sister, Caroline Gilroy of Lander, Wyoming; his brothers, Robert Eugene (Dorothy) Kirby of North Vernon and Richard Wayne (Joann) Kirby of Middletown, Indiana, his grandchildren, David, Chelcey, J.D., Jalaya, Eric, Jacob, Daelin, Grace & Faith and his great grandchildren, John, Benjamin, Krimsyn & Simon. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Kirby & Arthur Kirby; a sister, Nancy Kirby in infancy and son-in-law Stacey Bostic. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at the Nebraska Church of God with Pastor Gerald Rudd & Pastor Johnny Russell officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery with military graveside rites. A time of visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport.
