Patric Eugene “Pat” Grote, 55, Greensburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
Pat was born December 13, 1965 in Greensburg, Indiana, he was the son of Eugene and Elaine (Wilkinson) Grote.
Pat was a 1984 graduate of South Decatur High School. He began his career farming at a young age growing up on the Grote Family Farm. His passion for farming ran deep in his roots as he carried on the family tradition through row crops and cattle. Some of the family’s most cherished memories were made helping Pat on the farm. In 2014 Pat had finally reached his dreams of starting his own business PG AG Solutions selling Channel Seed.
Pat was a member and past President of the Decatur County Fair Board. What he loved most about the fair was 4-H and showing livestock with his girls. He couldn’t have been any prouder than what he was watching his girls in the show ring. Pat served on many 4-H committees, including the 4-H council. He also enjoyed tractor pulls, woodworking, hunting with the boys, and most of all spending evenings outside on the barn porch with family and friends.
In February 2021 Pat & Patricia welcomed their first granddaughter, Landry Jane. She was truly the light of “Pap’s” life. He adored all of his lunch dates with Landry. Pat was always the type of guy to light up the room. His friends could count on him to be telling a story and making their day as he walked through the door. His friends and family loved his quick sense of humor, but knew they could count on him to be honest.
Pat married Patricia Ann Swinney on July 11, 1987 and she survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Erica (Cameron) Kuhn and Morgan (Alex) Hellmich; granddaughter, Landry Jane Kuhn; his parents, Gene & Elaine; mother-in-law, Jill Swinney; two sisters, Andrea (Mike) Beckett and Alisa (Jeff) Deck; several nieces and nephews.
