Phyllis Doerflinger, 90

Phyllis Doerflinger, 90, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg. She was born on May 26, 1931 in Greensburg, Indiana as the daughter of Alfred and Louise Doerflinger. 

After graduating from Greensburg High School in 1949 Phyllis went on to a career in financing. Her job took her to many parts of the state, including northern Indiana and later the Indianapolis area. She ended her career, as an Examiner for the Department of Financial Institutions in Indianapolis, with her retirement in 1996. In her spare time, Phyllis enjoyed many things in life. She liked to do needle point, sew, and cook.  She also did volunteer work at St. Vincent de Paul, Catholic Charities, St. Marys Catholic Church and the Humane Society. Phyllis had a love for animals, especially cats. Phyllis was known for her loving and caring spirit, but also her independence. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her. 

Phyllis is survived by her sisters: Patt Luken, Dottie Feeney, Jackie (Marvin) Sizemore; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: John Doerflinger, Paul Doerflinger; brother-in-laws: Tom Feeney and Carl Luken. 

The family will be holding private graveside services at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hospice of South Central Indiana, and/or the Decatur County Animal Shelter.
