Richard Alfred Jones, 84, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2026. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Richard was the beloved son of Stella Jones Wagner. He graduated from high school in 1960 and went on to serve his country in the United States Army as a member of the Green Berets, serving during the Vietnam War. His military service reflected a commitment to duty, courage, and sacrifice.
Following his military service, Richard dedicated much of his working life to helping animals in need. He worked in animal shelters, animal rescue, and with the Humane Society in the Versailles and Osgood communities. Through his work, he contributed to the care and protection of animals, giving his time and efforts to those who could not speak for themselves.
He is survived by his companion of 31 years, Mary Ann Zerbian; daughter, Stephanie Brown; stepchildren, Cindy (Tim) Busha, Troy Zerbian, Keith Zerbian, Fred Zerbian; grandson, Ethan Jones; siblings, Edna Roberts, Sharon Carr, and Mike Wagner. He was preceded in death by his mother.
