Robert E. Black, 84, of Greensburg, passed away on December 9, 2021 at Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on May 21, 1937 in Westport, the son of
William Henry & Pearl (Ponsler) Black. He had been a lifelong resident of Decatur County. He owned Black’s Construction and retired from the Maintenance Department at Greensburg Community Schools. He was a member of the American Legion Post #129 in Greensburg and attended Westport Wesleyan Church. Bob enjoyed building things and collecting old cars. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Airforce. He married Bertha I. Stuart on January 1, 1956 in Greensburg and she survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Carol Sue (Cliff) Nobbe of Greensburg; sons, Donald Eugene (Diana) Black of Greensburg and Kenny Dale Black (Kim Abshear) of Westport; son-in-law, Dave Marsters of Commiskey; 14 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Donna Jean Marsters; great granddaughter, Arianna Clark; brothers, John, Bill, Raymond and Lester Black; sisters, Elsie Carel and Martha Grimes; Son-in-law, Christopher Reese. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 17, 2021 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Joe Smith and Pastor Paul Hornberger officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery with military graveside rites. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
