Russell Victor McFarland, Sr., 62, of Greensburg, passed away at 6:08 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at I.U. Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on October 12, 1958 in KanKaKee, Illinois the son of Roscoe T. and Betty (Kitchen) McFarland. Russell was raised in Knightstown and moved to Decatur County in 1978. He was logger working for Russell McFarland & Son Logging. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge Golden Rule # 16 in Knightstown and attended the First Church of God. Russell enjoyed bowling, mud racing and tractor pulls. He married Debora Sue McInteer in Jellico, Tennessee on June 30, 1978 and she survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Katelyn Marie McFarland of Greensburg; his sons, Russell “Rusty” (Danielle) McFarland, Jr. of Greensburg, David Lee McFarland of Napoleon and Anthony James “Tony” (Hillary) McFarland of Greensburg; his sisters, Darlene (Dale) Slaven and Linda Quinn both of Greensburg; his brother, Michael McFarland of Greensburg; and his 2 granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Claudette Wilson & Jane Stucker; his brother, Hershel McFarland. The funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Laura Apostol officiating. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Following his wishes he will be cremated and burial will be at a later date at the Westport Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
