Brown County Deputy involved in motorcycle accident

On August 2, 2023, at approximately 2:47 p.m., Bartholomew County deputies responded to an accident
with injury involving a motorcycle and pick-up truck at the intersection of W SR 46 and Old Nashville Rd
in its 10550 blk. Dispatch was informed that the driver of the motorcycle was unresponsive, and
additional assistance was required.

The driver of the motorcycle, Brown County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Timothy True, off-duty at the time of
crash, suffered significant head injuries as a result of the accident. Deputy True was transported from
the scene via Lifeline to an Indianapolis area hospital. At the time of this release, Deputy True’s
condition is reported to be critical, but stable.

The Bartholomew County Accident Reconstruction Team was called to document the scene. The
preliminary investigation indicates that the pick-up truck pulled out onto W SR 46 from Old Nashville Rd
in front of the motorcycle, resulting in a collision. The investigation is ongoing.

Sheriff Chris Lane said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with Deputy True and his family. The
Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office remains available to assist our fellow law enforcement colleagues
in Brown County throughout this difficult time.”
