From the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department –
On 09/03/2024 at approximately 10:26 PM deputies responded to the 100 blk of Schaefer Ct S in Hope,
IN in regards to a stabbing. The victim later identified as Eric Douglas 42 year-old of Hope had been stabbed multiple times during a domestic disturbance.
It is alleged that a minor physical confrontation occurred between Douglas and another resident, during
this confrontation another resident, a juvenile male, stabbed Douglas in the back several times. Douglas
was transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis by helicopter, he remains there undergoing
treatment. The juvenile suspect was arrested on the charge involving an allegation of battery causing serious bodily injury and transported to the Bartholomew County Youth Services Center where he remains in custody. The juvenile’s identity will not be released at this time.
This is a preliminary investigation. All persons are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
