Driver arrested after fleeing deputies in Bartholomew County


On November 21, 2021, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on 25th Street near Talley Road.  Radar confirmed that the vehicle’s speed was twice that of the posted speed limit.

As deputies attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle pulled into a driveway at a residence in the 6000 block of E 25th Street.  The driver then drove through the grass and into another driveway.

The driver, later identified as Stephanie Denney, 34, Columbus, exited the vehicle and ran into the residence.

A short time later, she was remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges involving allegations of:

Operating while intoxicated

Operating while intoxicated – Endangering a person

Resisting law enforcement

Reckless driving

All persons are considered innocent unless/until proven guilty in a court of law.
