Indianapolis, Indiana—The Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA) is proud to announce the successful completion of its Operation Emergency Food program, which provided essential support to veterans and their dependent families during the recent federal SNAP pause.
Through the initiative, IDVA processed a total of 68 applications, resulting in the distribution of $19,864.00 in crucial funding to assist in securing food and sustenance for military families in need.Recognizing the challenges presented by the temporary halt in SNAP benefits, IDVA swiftly mobilized resources to assist veterans and their dependent family members living without this necessary support.
The prompt and effective administration of the Operation Emergency Food program underscores the department’s unwavering commitment to Hoosier veterans and their families.”We recognize the essential role food security plays in the overall well-being of our veterans and their families,” stated Jake Adams, Director of the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs. “Through the Operation Emergency Food program, we have been able to offer timely aid to Hoosier veterans in their time of need.”“If the need arises and you find yourself in a situation where you need help the people [at IDVA] have been amazing,” said a Navy Veteran and Operation Emergency Food recipient. “Lynn [Lynn Dickey, MFRF Director] has always responded immediately to any questions . . . she always took the time out of her day to help me. Thank you to all of you involved in this program; when I needed your help you were there!”
The success of the program was made possible through the collaborative efforts of dedicated IDVA staff and the Indiana Veterans’ Affairs Commission.
