On November 20, 2020, approximately 10:00pm, Bartholomew County Sheriffs Deputies responded to the 10000 block of south US 31 in reference to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
On arrival deputies located a female who had been fatality struck. The victim, identified as Amberly Napier 34, Columbus, was struck by a northbound tractor trailer. The driver, and a witness in a vehicle behind the tractor trailer, reported that Ms. Napier was in the travel portion of the northbound lane at the time she was hit.
Although impairment is not suspected, both drivers submitted to a voluntary blood draw. ISP Trooper Holley conducted a reconstruction.
The investigation is ongoing.
