Search continues

UPDATE: Search underway for missing Osgood man at Versailles Lake (Ripley County)

Multiple agencies from Indiana and Ohio have suspended search efforts for Carson Hughes for the night (Saturday night) due to darkness. Search efforts will resume this morning at 7:00 a.m.   

There is no new information currently available, and the public is urged to remain clear of the search area at Versailles Lake.

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the disappearance of an Osgood man in Ripley County.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., Ripley County dispatch received a report of a missing adult male at Versailles Lake within Versailles State Park.

The vehicle of Carson Hughes, 18, of Osgood was located unlocked with the keys still within the vehicle near the boat ramp and his kayak located on the water nearby.

A search for Hughes was conducted on land and water near where his vehicle was located utilizing thermal and side-scan sonar technologies.

The search has been suspended for the night due to darkness and unsafe search conditions and will resume in the morning.  

If anyone has information on Hughes’ whereabouts, they are urged to call the Indiana DNR Dispatch Center at 812-837-9536.

Assisting agencies include Ripley County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, Indiana Excise Police, PHI Air Medical Services, Versailles Fire Department, Ripley County Emergency Medical Services, Ripley County Emergency Management Agency, and Delaware Volunteer Fire Department.
