Traffic stop in Bartholomew County results in pursuit

From the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department –

On 11/18/2024 at 10:51 PM Deputy Max Medina attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a maroon
Mitsubishi passenger car in the area of N Buckingham Dr. and W. Farmstead Dr. The vehicle failed to
yield and a pursuit was initiated. The suspect vehicle led law enforcement on a pursuit throughout
eastern Bartholomew County. During the pursuit the vehicle stopped in the roadway, while stopped the
driver and passenger were observed switching seats inside the vehicle. As the pursuit continued officers
from the Columbus Police Department deployed a tire deflation device which the suspect vehicle struck
in the area of N US 31 and E 50 N.

The pursuit then continued into Columbus until a trooper from the Indiana State Police executed a PIT
maneuver (Precision Immobilization Technique) on the suspect vehicle. No injuries were sustained
during the PIT maneuver and no vehicles sustained any damage.

During the subsequent felony stop Brandon Burton 24yo of Columbus and Audrianna Hoover 18yo of Columbus were taken into custody. A search of the vehicle resulted in locating narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia.

Burton and Hoover were transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where they remain in custody on
48 hour holds.
Brandon Burton – Allegations involve – resisting with vehicle, operating while intoxicated – previous, operating while intoxicated – endangerment, possession of syringe, possession of legend drug, possession of meth, possession of look-a-like substance, reckless driving and two BCJ warrants.
Audrianna Hoover – Allegations involve” resisting with vehicle, operating while intoxicated, operating while intoxicated – endangerment, reckless driving, possession of syringe and possession of look-a-like substance.

This is a preliminary investigation. All persons are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
