The Decatur County Democratic Party proudly hosted a sold-out crowd for the 2024 RFK Dinner on Saturday, October 12th. The event brought together local Democrats, party supporters, and a host of dedicated candidates in an inspiring evening of civic engagement, discussion, and community-building.

Headlining the evening was Indiana’s own Dana Black, a dynamic political strategist, activist, and former candidate for the Indiana House of Representatives. Known for her unwavering commitment to increasing civic engagement, voter participation, and advocating for marginalized communities, Dana electrified the audience with her passion for equity and justice. As the host of the popular podcast Turn Left, which amplifies progressive voices across Indiana, Dana shared insights on the power of grassroots organizing and her vision for a better future for all Hoosiers.

In addition to Dana Black’s powerful keynote address, the audience heard from an impressive lineup of candidates:

– Terry Goodin, Candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Indiana

– Dr. Valerie McCray, U.S. Senate Candidate

– Dr. Tim Peck, Congressional Candidate for Indiana’s 9th District

– Hollie Payton, Candidate for Indiana State Representative in HD 73

– Victoria Martz, Candidate for Indiana State Representative in HD 55

The evening was marked by a common thread among all speakers— a shared vision of hard work, dedication, and a commitment to creating a better future for all Hoosiers, regardless of political affiliation. From improving healthcare access to advancing equity in education, the speakers outlined a path forward that emphasizes solutions for working families and underrepresented communities.

The dinner was organized by the Decatur County Democratic Central Committee, led by Chris Ramey, Hollie Payton, Ryan Maddux, James Payton, and Sarah Fleenor. The event also featured a delicious catered dinner, bringing together attendees in a celebratory and collaborative atmosphere.

A special thank you to all sponsors, donors, and attendees for a wonderful evening.
