
Columbus North hosted their annual Rick Weinheimer Classic at Ceraland Saturday morning. The meet featured 49 cross-country high school teams from around the state. Greensburg competed in the A Division Races. The boys’ team finished 5th out of 27 teams. The Pirates now have a record of 38-12.
Senior Joe Hawkins was the individual champion out of 161 harriers in the A Race. Hawkins ran a personal best time for the second week in a row. His time of 15:34.4 now ranks 4th in Greensburg school history. Xavier Cassis also lowered his personal best Saturday morning. Cassis broke the 17:00 barrier for the first time placing 16th. The senior’s time of 16:51.9 moved Xavier into 25th all-time. Junior Quinton Walker set a new personal best as well at Columbus. His time of 17:06.4 earned 20th place.
Henry Corya was the Pirate’s 4th finisher on Saturday. The sophomore had his fastest time of the season placing 59th in 18:37.4. Conner Bedel ran his best of the season taking 84th in 19:18.1. Jackson Tekulve lowered his best time to 19:25.6 and placed 88th. Oliver Corya was 106th in the A Division running 20:08.9.
The Lady Pirates also placed 5th in a field of 27 teams. Their record stands at 36-12. Eleanor Davis ran under 19:00 for the first time in her career finishing as the runner up in 18:47.1. Her time stands as the third fastest performance in school history. Lulu Belle was the next finisher for Greensburg. She placed 9th in the A Division. Webb also recorded a personal best time of 20:15.0, which ranks 11th all-time at Greensburg.
Junior Alaina Bedel took 28th place in 21:26.4, her fastest time of 2025. Sophomore Allison Bedel continued to lower her time this fall running another personal best of 23:03.3 for 56th place. Josie Slaven was 98th in 25:20.2. Chloie Davis ran her best race of 2025 taking 113th in 26:54.6. Avonlee Bohall placed 126th in 28:30.9, and Elizabeth Walden finished in 28:45.4 for 129th.
Greensburg also has a boys’ team compete in the Reserve Race. The Pirates finished 9th out of 16 complete teams. Xavier Wade led the way for Greensburg. The junior ran a season best of 19:40.7 to place 88th. Senior Luke Dwenger broke the 20:00 barrier for the first time in his career finishing 93rd in 19:44.9. Malakai Nicolaides recorded his fastest time of the fall as he placed 95th in 19:52.7.
Ethan Clifford ran a personal best of 20:05.5 for 101st. Junior Patrick Robbins ran under 21:00 for the first time ever and established a new personal record of 20:41.5. Noah Grossman also set a new personal best running 20:44.7 for 5000m. The Pirates return to action next weekend when they go to Brown County for the 24th Annual Eagle Classic. The first race is scheduled to start at 8:30 am.
