Greensburg, Ind. — On Thursday, March 12, 2026 at approximately 4:00 pm, the Greensburg Police Department responded to the intersection of State Road 3 and Freeland Road. Officers responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a semi-truck.
Upon arrival, officers located a male subject who police identified as Denver Jones, 69, of St. Paul, IN. Jones appeared to have sustained serious injuries after being struck by a semi truck that was traveling through the area.
The Greensburg Fire Department and Decatur County EMS arrived on scene and rendered aid to Jones. Jones was transported to the Decatur County Memorial Hospital for treatment. Jones was later transported by air to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis in critical condition, he has been declared deceased.
The driver of the semi, Rex Hewitt, 53 of Arlington, IN remained on scene and has been cooperative with all aspects of the investigation.
