Decatur County Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees Meeting – May 28, 2026 

The regular meeting of the Governing Board of Decatur County Memorial Hospital was  convened on May 28, 2026, at approximately 7PM in Conference Room “D”.  

The Board approved the minutes from the April 30, 2026 meeting and reviewed the April  2026 financial information, including reports on cash and investments and capital asset  purchases. No old business was presented during the consent agenda portion of the  meeting. 

During the regular agenda, representatives from Forvis Mazars presented the drafted 2025  Audit Report. The Board also reviewed the hospital’s financial report and received updates  from the Planning Committee, Quality Management Committee, and Finance Committee  regarding their respective May 2026 meetings. 

New business included the review and consideration of contract approvals, capital  requests, and the Chief Executive Officer’s update. Rex McKinney, President and CEO, updated on operations, the current challenges in healthcare, and the importance of  partnerships within our community and with other healthcare providers. He emphasized  the need to continuously improve quality while improving operational efficiency. A  summary of current healthcare challenges included payer/reimbursement challenges and pressures on healthcare costs from employers and elected officials. He shared updates  regarding recent community sports physical events in which proceeds were donated to the  schools’ athletic programs. He also reported the success of the Hospital Foundation Gala  and encouraged attendance at the upcoming Healthy Fair on June 4th.  

The Governing Board also received the medical staff report, which included applications  for appointment and reappointment to the medical staff, as well as notices of medical staff  terminations.
