Resurfacing update

UPDATE: Work continues on State Road 3 in Decatur and Jennings Counties

DECATUR/JENNINGS COUNTY, Ind. — Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Dave O’Mara Contractors closed State Road 3 between U.S. 50 and Westport in early May to complete an asphalt resurface project in Decatur and Jennings Counties. Beginning this week, crews plan to begin final paving operations on S.R. 3 between the U.S. 50 bypass and Westport. During this time, access will be maintained for local traffic only. Thru traffic will not be permitted while work is in progress. Throughout the closure, motorists should use the official detour route which follows U.S. 50 to U.S. 421 to S.R. 46. Paving operations are expected to take place through the end of August and final work is expected to be complete by late October, weather permitting. This project is part of a $9.3 million contract awarded to Dave O’Mara in August 2023. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.mapStay Informed
