The City of Greensburg Board of Aviation met on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 6:00 PM.
The meeting began with the roll call, approval of the agenda for tonight’s meeting, and approval of the meeting minutes from the July 8, 2024 meeting.
John Feister, BF&S came to the board to provide the construction report and give an update. He said that the instrument approach has been published which should increase use of the airport. John said that one grant has been closed out. They are currently just waiting for one more grant to close out, once that grant closes out the project is complete with all grant documentation and checks received.
John spoke about the Apron project which is currently scheduled to cost $785,000. He said that he has been working with Dr. Dooley and Amy Burns to make a plan as they may have to pay the contractor up front the difference of approximately $270,000. This amount would be reimbursed via a grant however, they would receive a portion in 2025 and then the final amount in 2026. They must find a way to pay that money up front and be fiscally responsible. The board voted to table any other discussions about approving to go into contract with the contractor if the grant is approved until they have a solid plan for how to pay for all of it.
John also spoke about a grant that they submitted for an Air Control Tower, he said that the amount of people applying surpasses the funding available. He referenced that receiving this grant would be like “winning the lottery”.
Jerry Scheidler, Airport Manager came to the board and said he currently has 9 individuals waiting for hangars to become available. He also said that security cameras have been installed. He mentioned that there are some areas not currently seen in the cameras and that they may look at adding additional cameras in the future.
The board approved the payment of all bills as presented.
The meeting was adjourned.
