The City of Greensburg Board of Works met on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 5:30 pm.
The meeting began with the approval of the May 14, 2024, May 15, 2024, Executive Session, and the June 10, 2024 Executive Session meeting minutes.
John Bryant, Veridus Group provided an update on the Municipal Complex Project. He stated that the landscaping is nearly complete. The asphalt topcoat and striping will be completed at the end of the week. They are waiting for the fiber to be made live at the Street Department with the Certificate of Occupancy expected in late June. The Fire Station is nearing completion, however, they are currently awaiting the completion of the elevator. With t he elevator held back, they are expecting the Certificate of Occupancy on July 10, 2024. The project continues to be on budget.
Chris Ramey, Decatur County Fair Parade Coordinator received approval for street closures for the Decatur County 4-H Fair Parade on July 14, 2024.
Liz Owens, Tri Kappa received approval for the road closures for the Fourth of July Parade.
Mike McNealy, Chief of Police received approval for closing of the streets for the 3 Public Safety Community Cookouts this year. He also received approval from the board to give conditional offers of employment to applicants 2, 1, and 4.
Nate Stoermer, Fire Chief received approval for the promotion of a Probationary Firefighter to 1st Class Firefighter.
Donna Lecher, Utilities Manager came to the meeting and received approval from the Board of Works for their portion of the $15,000 Utility Rate Proposal Study being conducted. This study is done every 3 years. This report will take approximately three months to complete. The board is responsible for the sewer and stormwater part of the study. She also received approval for a sewer leak adjustment.
Zeke Smith, Wastewater Superintendent received approval for Task Order 22-01 Amendment No., 1 increasing the engineering cost of the project for the UV Disinfection System for the Wastewater Plant from $50,000 to $72,500. He also received approval for Change Order No. 2 to replace a gate that needs updating within the system and a new flow meter for an additional cost of $71,331.
Zach Wirrig, Director of Public Projects provided an update on the Franklin Street update saying that it is on schedule for a September 1, 2024 completion date. He also thanked the Water Department for their hard work and how great they worked with the crew that was performing the work. Zach also said that they would be opening bids for the Washington Street project at the July meeting.
Updates were also given for the heavy trash pickup. In 2023 during the spring large trash pick-up, they picked up 250,000 pounds. In May of 2024, they picked up 310,000 pounds of trash during a large trash pick-up
The board approved all claims.
