Krista Evans and Melanie Morgan

There were 2 extra effort awards presented by South Decatur Elementary School. The first went to Speech Pathologist Melanie Morgan. She has always stepped up and been a listening ear and advocate for the children. She always does what is best for the students rather than what is the easiest. The second went to Occupational Therapist Krista Evans. She was a huge part in helping get a kindergarten student a wheelchair that they otherwise could not have afforded. She is always organized and helps absolutely everybody who needs it.

Jonathan Black

The extra effort award for South Decatur High School went to Spanish Teacher and Senior Airman Jonathan Black. He gives everything to the students, staff, and community while constantly coming up with out of box ideas. The students learn about language and culture enough that they have begun to teach others what they have learned as well.

The board approved the annual renewal with Chartwells Food Service. The board approved the annual resolution to transfer amounts from the education fund to the operations fund. All student fundraisers were approved. Donations totaling in $6,903.78 were accepted. The board approved the disposal of obsolete equipment.

The National Elementary Honor Society banquet was last week and went well. Thursday and Friday at 7 pm the community is invited to the Musical Extravaganza. They received a grant from the Decatur County REMC for the outdoor lab. Field trips are continuing throughout the Spring and the Fine Arts Spring Fling and Grandparents Night will be coming up soon.
