On Friday, July 4, 2025 at approximately 7:46 p.m., Decatur County Communications
received a call reference a vehicle traveling northbound on St. Rd. 3 that had left the
roadway and traveled into a corn field. Witnesses stated that the vehicle initially traveled
into the median on the west side of St. Rd. 3, then cane back onto the roadway and then
traveled off the roadway on the east side of St. Rd. 3, traveling into the corn field where
the witnesses lost sight of the vehicle.
Upon arrival of first responders, they were able to track the vehicle through the corn field
and located the vehicle crashed into an unoccupied mobile home residence located at
1626 W. St. Rd. 46. The driver and only occupant of the vehicle was trapped in the
vehicle and unresponsive when located. The driver was extricated from the vehicle and
transported to the Decatur County Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced
deceased.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as George Harold Ramsey, 50 years of age, from
Shelbyville, IN.
