It wasn’t a full week for filings but races on the Republican ticket were created by Wednesday and Thursday filings.
In the Decatur County Clerk’s Office, Janet Templeton Howell and Anna Wenning Rayner are seeking the nomination for Decatur County Clerk.
William Meyerrose and John Organist filed Wedesday seeking the nomination as a candidate for Decatur County Sheriff.
Of the three Decatur County Council seats up for election, district 4 has a race. Ashley Emsweller Hungate and Richard Mays have filed. Hungate was recently selected by republican caucus for the district 4 seat to fill a vacancy left with the passing of Larry Meyer. Mays had also sought the seat during the caucus. Seeking re-election in District 2 is Danny Peters and in District 3 Deanna Burkart.
Dottie Moore Robbins filed seeking re-election for Decatur County Recorder. David Gray, Jr. filed for the republican nomination in Decatur County Commissioner District 2. And Somer Welsh-Hart filed for Adams Township Trustee.
Randy Frye filed seeking re-election in house district 67.
Two candidates filed in Decatur County for house district 55 – Curtis Ward of Brookville and David Welsh of Batesville. That’s the seat held by Cindy Zeimke who is not seeking another term.
The filing period for the May 3rd primary just started this week for more races can be created. There were no democrat filings either Wednesday or Thursday. Additional announcements will be made next week as the Decatur County Clerk’s Office provides such information.
