Greensburg is getting ready for a weekend of celebration as the Tree City Fall Festival returns next September 19th and 20th, filling downtown with music, food, and the traditions that have made it one of the community’s most anticipated events of the year.
Among the first highlights of the festival Saturday is the beloved Herb Kohler Memorial Parade. This year’s theme, “Volunteering is Alive in 2025,” shines a spotlight on the spirit of service that defines the community. Leading the way as Grand Marshals will be Decatur County’s local volunteer fire departments — everyday heroes who dedicate their time to keeping neighbors safe.
Adding to the excitement, the parade will once again feature special recognitions. The 2nd annual “Ham It Up”award will be presented to the funniest entry, honoring the legacy of Merrill Smith and his lifelong contributions to the festival and the community. In addition, three entries will take home awards for best decorated, celebrating the creativity and effort that make the parade such a visual delight.
The streets will come alive with colorful floats, royalty, children waving from decorated trucks, and plenty of small-town charm. Spectators are encouraged to line the route early for the best views, then stick around to enjoy the vendors, live music, and family-friendly fun that make the Tree City Fall Festival a highlight of the season.
This year’s celebration promises a weekend of tradition, gratitude, and hometown pride — proving once again why the Tree City Fall Festival is such a cherished part of Greensburg life.
