United Fund 29th Annual Auction a Great Success

[Greensburg, IN November 17, 2025—] The Decatur County United Fund held its 29th Annual Auction and Dinner Friday night at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Greensburg. What was this year’s theme? Viva Las Vegas!

Executive Director, Joane Cunningham stated, “This is always a great event for us at United Fund. For the past few years we have broken our record and I’m excited to announce that we broke it again this year! The net amount raised for the evening was $169,444 for the Decatur County United Fund.”

The auctioneers dressed as Casino Dealers; Brian Owens, Aaron Gault and Steve Fortner kept the bidding lively as guests, many of whom were decked out in their Vegas best, bid on the many items available. Scott Wesseler, Amy Bray, and Brad Schutte served as masters of ceremonies. The clerks for the evening were Frank Narwold and Christin Owens and the checkout table were facilitated by Connie Weston and Amanda White.

Dinner was catered by B&S Catering and then bidding started on the 72 live items that were graciously donated or sponsored by local businesses and individuals. Throughout the night, those in attendance tried to outbid each other on items such as sports items, dinners, destinations, household items and experiences. There were also fourteen silent auction items for the night.

Cunningham noted, “This year we had a great turnout with lots of unique Vegas outfits and fun. Thank you to Shelly Hadler and Natalie Acra for the Las Vegas backdrops that made the Vegas theme really shine. I cannot thank the community enough for showing their support and to

everyone who volunteered their time to make this event happen. Truly our community is blessed with amazing people.”

The 2026 grantees are Advocates for Children, Carousel Play and Learn Center, Catch A Ride, Champions of Youth, Children’s Advocacy Center of Southeastern Indiana, Community Healthcare Clinic, Decatur County Family YMCA, Decatur County Kid’s Closet, Decatur County Youth Baseball, Girl Scouts, Greensburg Community Bread of Life, Head Start, Our Hospice, Turning Point and Speranza House.

“A special thank you goes to Coach Collin Rigney and the Greensburg Community High School basketball team who setup tables and chairs prior to the event. Coach PJ Metz and the North Decatur High School basketball team members came in on Saturday following the event and helped with clean up and re-setting the hall tables. Both teams have helped with set-up and tear-down of the auction for many years and it is greatly appreciated.” Cunningham stated.
