GJHS girls 3rd, boys 4th in Panther Invitational

The GJHS Pirates traveled to Jennings County Monday evening to race at Muscatatuck Park. The event featured seven schools racing over a two-mile course.The girls team placed 3rd and were led by Maria Scholle and Hadley Davis. Scholle and Davis finished first and second overall, in times of 12:36 and 13:49. They were followed by Hayden Saylor in 21st, Isabelle Macku in 23rd, and Ava Doig in 24th. Violet Macku (33) and Sarita Walker (34) rounded out the Pirates’ entries. In the boys’ race, the Pirates finished 4th as a team and were led by Kason Bedel. Bedel finished just outside the top 15, placing 16th with a time of 13:43. He was followed by Miles Gill in 14:07 taking 20th place. A pack of Pirates, Luke Harris, Liam Hernandez, and Easton Character finished in a row taking 24th, 25th, and 26th respectively. Collin Rich (42) and Konnor Luers (45) rounded out the Pirates squad.The Pirates also had 4 athletes run the JV race. Sam Black ran an excellent race, taking 8th place in 16:52. Rylan Herpel and Preston Meadows finished 13th and 14th in the JV race. Noelle Kern took 3rd place overall in the JV girls’ race.The Pirates will race again Saturday morning in Brown County.
