
The Greensburg Cross-Country teams traveled to Madison for their annual Lou Knoble Invitational Saturday morning. In the boys’ race, the Pirates placed five runners in the top ten finishers and won the team competition with 25 pts. The victory moved the boys’ record to 5-0 in 2025. Senior Joe Hawkins led the race from start to finish winning in a time of 16:45.2 and he set the course record at Madison with his win.
Xavier Cassis used a strong kick to take 4th place in a personal best time of 17:43.0. Quinton Walker took 5th overall in 17:48.4, his best time ever for 5 km.
The next two finishers for the Pirates were sophomores Henry Corya and Conner Bedel. Corya ran 19:40.3 for 9th while Bedel finished in 19:43.0 for 10th. Freshman Jackson Tekulve broke 20:00 and running 19:54.5 to earn 12th place in his first high school race. Luke Dwenger placed 14th in 20:37.0, and Xavier Wade was next in 15th overall. Wade’s time was 21:07.5. Other medalists for Greensburg included Oliver Corya (17th in 21:15.4) and Ethan Clifford (21:18.6). Noah Grossman ran 22:29.7 and was 21st overall in his first high school competition. Patrick Robbins finished in 22nd place with a time of 22:43.6.
The Lady Pirates were also victorious Saturday at Madison. Greensburg swept the top three spots in the race. Freshman Eleanor Davis took the lead after the first km. Davis finished in a time of 20:11.9 for the win. That performance moved her into 9th place all-time for 5000m. Lulu Webb was the runner-up on Saturday. She ran 21:51.9 and now ranks 21st fastest in Lady Pirates’ history. Junior Alaina Bedel placed 3rd overall in a time of 22:16.9. Josie Slaven was 8th in the race with a time of 24:52.7.
The next two finishers for Greensburg were sophomores. Alli Bedel took 12th in 25:57.7 in her first 5 km race. Chloie Davis also completed her first 5 km race. She was 20th overall in 29:19.1. Junior Elizabeth Walden was 24th in 30:43.7 while teammate Avonlee Bohall placed 26th in 31:05.4. The Lady Pirates are now 4-0 this season. Both teams return to action next weekend at the Franklin Community High School Invitational. The boys’ race begins at 8:30 am.
