South Decatur Boys XC won the team title Saturday in South Dearborn, taking seven of the top 10 spots, including first place from senior Trevor Newby with a 19:17 5K time. Senior Josh Shouse dropped 1.5 minutes from his previous best, and sophomore Donovan Hale dropped almost a minute. All nine boys ran faster than the first meet of last season.
South Decatur Girls XC took second at the Sectional course preview meet, with sophomore Kate Hamilton placing 9th overall. The team has three new girls this year (sophomores Maria Nobbe and Mary Schwering, and freshman Kylie Best), so they all marked personal records today. Junior Sami Storm tied the PR she set on this course last October. All ten girls were ahead of their last-season times.
Both teams head to Shelbyville Mon., Aug. 16, to compete at the Triton Central Earlybird Invite at Blue River Park.
