John Wesley Davis, 98

John Wesley Davis, 98 of Greensburg, IN passed away at his residence on March 12, 2022.He was born November 20,1923 in Decatur County, IN the son of the late Ligonal Davis Sr. andEthel (Parks) Davis.
He met Gladys Mae (Thorp) Davis and she became his wife on December 16, 1945. Sadly, she precededhim in death in 2017.
John also was preceded in death his parents a son, Stephen Davis; brothers, Harold Davis, Ligonal Davis, Jr., WilburDavis and infant brother James Davis and sisters, Helen Wasson, Mabel Mount and Norma Jean Massman.He was a lifetime resident of Shelby County and was a self-employed farmer.He graduated from Waldron High School, and was a member of the First Christian Church of Shelbyville, wherehe was an elder for 55 years.John was a US Navy veteran of WWII.
His survivors include children, Joyce (William) Crane of Greensburg, IN; Cheryl (Kenneth) Bass of Shelbyville, IN;Gary (Debra) Davis of St. Paul, IN; and a daughter-in-law Kathie Davis of Greensburg, IN; a sister, Ethel MaeSoroko of Ohio; 14 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren.John was a lifelong farmer, coming from generations of farming. He was proud of his service with the US Navy during WWII. He enjoyed tractor pulling and was an avid bowler until the age of 97.
Funeral services for John will be on Friday, March 18,2002 at 2:30PM in Glenn E. George Funeral Home, 106E. Franklin St., St. Paul, IN, with Pastor Bill Horner officiating.Visitation will be on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 1:00PM until time of service.Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Shelbyville in lieu of flowers.Burial will be in Van Pelt Cemetery, Waldron, IN with local veteran’s organizations providing military honors.
