BCSO Chief Deputy Major Chris Lane is monitoring the overall operations of the department, supervising staff and to reporting daily to Sheriff Myers.

Under Major Lanes leadership, he is directing, planning, organizing, and commanding the operations of the Sheriffs Office while performing his related work as required while I am out, said Bartholomew County Sheriff Matthew A. Myers. Major Lane has been in contact with the Bartholomew County Commissioners and he is monitoring the Governors directive regarding the updated Indiana Back on Track plan due to surging coronavirus numbers.

Currently, BCSOs Road Patrol Division is at full capacity. Two Correction Officers are in quarantine but no other staff members or inmates are showing any signs of symptoms.

As Chief Deputy, Major Lane has more than 30 years of solid law enforcement, security and staff management experience and I have complete trust in him, added Sheriff Myers.

Limiting close face-to-face contact with others is the best way to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

Please be sure to social distance staying at least 6 feet from people who are not in your household in both indoor and outdoor spaces.

Social distancing should be practiced in combination with other preventive actions to reduce the spread of Covid-19 including wearing masks, avoiding touching your face with unwashed hands and frequently washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
