On June 27, 2021, approximately 6:54 p.m., Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Sellers was southbound on I65, near the 72-mile marker, when he observed a male subject run across the Interstate in front of on-coming traffic.
Deputy Sellers pulled to the shoulder of the roadway in an attempt to make contact with the subject but the man continued to run jumping a fence near N 250 W and down a long gravel drive. Eventually, the man, identified as Michael Sample, 29, Columbus, complied with Deputy Seller’s orders to stop.
K9 Jari was deployed and located a capped syringe that is believed to belong to Sample.

He remains in BCJ in lieu of $68,500 bond.
All persons are considered innocent unless/until proven guilty in a court of law.
