Motorcycle crash in Bartholomew County


SHERIFF’S UNITS RESPOND TO PERSONAL INJURY MOTORCYCLE CRASH

May 12, 2022, approximately 1:47 a.m., Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a motorcycle crash (with injuries) in the 11,000 block of S Jonesville Road.

On arrival, fire personnel were providing medical assistance to the driver identified as Richard Duran, 46, Seymour, IN.   

Duran said he struck a deer that was on the roadway and lost control of his motorcycle.  

Columbus Regional Health personnel arrived and continued medical care until StatFlight medics arrived.   

Due to his injuries, Duran was transported to St. Vincent’s hospital in Indianapolis.

Myers said: “although this accident did not involve another vehicle, I want to remind people that with the nicer/warner weather, there are more motorcycles on our roadways.” “There are more kids/people on bicycles and more people walking and running in our neighborhoods.”

“Please slow down and please be respectful of others.” “We have had several accidents recently and I don’t want to see anyone hurt,” said Bartholomew County Sheriff Matthew A. Myers.
